Join Us: The Annual Statewide Meeting is Coming Up Next Week!

Join us on Friday, November 6th from 10 AM – 2 PM virtually for our Annual Statewide Meeting! This one-day gathering brings together Coalition members and allies from across California to build connections and reflect on the past year.

This year we’ll be sharing key findings from a new Paid Family Leave study, partnering with Caring Across Generations to host One Million Care Conversations, as well as reflecting on our wins and setting our direction for 2027.

Whether you’re a longtime member or new to the Coalition, this is a chance to share your voice, deepen relationships, and help shape the work ahead.

If you are interested in attending for the first time and would like more information, please contact us at info@workfamilyca.org.

Coalition Participates in 1 Million Care Conversations

On September 30, Coalition staff member Katie Duberg attended a listening session and screening of Take Me Home as part of Caring Across Generations 1 Million Care Conversations Initiative.

“It was powerful to participate in a conversation with other caregivers,” said Katie Duberg “It’s important to imagine a better way to support caregivers and those we care for.”

We look forward to hosting our own participation in One Million Care Conversations at our Statewide Meeting happening next Friday, November 6th. Thank you Caring Across Generations for partnering with us on this!

New Resource On California Paid Leave for Gender Affirming Care

Did you know that In California, state laws and programs protect you if you need leave from work to recover from your own serious health condition, whether physical or mental. If you need leave from work in order to receive gender affirming surgery or other types of care, you may qualify for both income replacement and job protection under California state laws. This means that while you recover, you could receive income replacement and your job could be protected.

The California Work & Family Coalition collaborated with Gender Affirming Professionals on a bilingual blogpost about California Paid Leave for Gender Affirming Care. CAWFC Staff Present to California Partnership to End Domestic Violence State Leadership Team

On Thursday, October 15th, Coalition staff members, Jasmine Amian and Katie Duberg, presented to the CA Partnership to End Domestic Violence (CPEDV) State Leadership Team about their trainings to Economic Justice Peer Learning Cohorts. They highlighted the connection between paid leave, economic security, and prevention of intimate partner violence. They also shared the positive feedback from training participants who consistently share that paid leave information is critical for the survivors they work with.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and we hope to continue to uplift the strengthening of economic supports for families as a key strategy for preventing intimate partner violence, making policies like paid leave an important prevention approach. For more information on the Coalition's partnership with CPEDV or to get involved, contact Jenya Cassidy at jenya@workfamilyca.org.
