About our Education Program
We at the California Work & Family Coalition organize community trainings that cover the basics of California paid leave laws including:
Paid Family Leave
State Disability Insurance
Paid Sick and Safe Days
Adjacent Laws such as Job Protection and Pregnancy Disability Leave
You can find more information about California paid leave laws on our Resource Hub.
The California Work & Family Coalition led the campaign to pass California’s Paid Family Leave, the first paid leave program in the United States. Since 2004, when the law was implemented, millions of Californians have taken paid family leave.
But passing the law was only the first step. Early on we found that workers need accessible information and education about leave laws to fully use their benefits. We continue to raise awareness and educate advocates and frontline workers through training, direct outreach and online education. We partner with Coalition organizations to ensure that workers know their rights when the time comes to take paid and job-protected leave.
Who we serve:
We train nonprofit leaders, community organizers, and frontline workers to share paid leave information with their co-workers and communities. The California Work & Family Coalition Education and Training Program serves community orgs, unions, non-profits, and individuals dedicated to helping parents, caregivers, and families. We are always open to collaborating with other institutions! Contact us for more information at info@workfamilyca.org.
We are working towards making our trainings bilingual and accessible, and we're committed to prioritize the goals and needs of Black, Indigenous, and undocumented communities.
